S Doradus Variables (xFaction Star)

During a Bronx, New York cross-faction boozy brunch meet-up agent +Syrax22 mentioned about two portals almost on top of each other in the Bronx. After many rounds of mimosas we set a date and started collecting keys. The first day we collected over six hundred keys and that gave us the idea of trying to link every portal in the Bronx and maybe break the ingress record of 1267 links for a xfaction star. Manually counting all the portals in the Bronx and indexing which ones wouldn’t be accessible during the night, we decided to go bigger and got other boroughs involved too.

The night before the official event the destination portals (Parkchester fountain & The Oval statue) portals were set up and the first incoming links to the portals were made as blockers while we started clearing. Even though the original plan was just linking during the night, both teams decided to start early try to link portals inaccessible at night during the day and from there we all just continued linking agents joining when they could. Around 1am ENL was running out of portals in the Bronx but people continued linking all night with the last official count was 1600 links in total with (E666, R934  at 4.22am), but we know people were out linking after breakfast until 6.30am.

It was nerve wrecking and many things could have gone wrong, but we did it!
