ATTENTION ALL AGENTS: So here’s a somewhat noble idea that I’m taking from the geocaching community to pitch to the Ingress community.

Geocachers have what they call CITO events. CITO stands for Cache In Trash Out. They go to areas that are good for geocaching and clean the place up, taking trash, sometimes by the truckload, out of the area before leaving only the cache and signing log behind.

I submit that Ingress agents could do something similar.

We are in the position where we visit important cultural landmarks on a consistent basis, landmarks that are often unimportant or ignored by the regular passerby. As such, these landmarks can often accumulate trash around the location. Even if it’s small things like an empty can or a burger wrapper, this adds up over time.

So why don’t we, as Ingress Agents focused on expanding and empowering humanity regardless of faction, agree to help protect these culutral landmarks by agreeing to pick up trash near our portals? Simply carry a plastic grocery bag with you, and when you come along some trash, no matter how small, pick it up, and deposit it all in the nearest public trash can, or bring it back home with you if you have to.

With so many Ingress agents playing worldwide, doing such a HUGE amount of walking, biking, and driving, imagine the impact this could have!

Join me in this initiative! +1 this post to show that you’re with me and share it to spread the word.
