Operation: Coming Home

Cause of our wedding (Kerstin Pichler ) on 26th October 2013 I had the ambition to create a field, reproducing our former life and bringing our former adresses, the places where we went to school and the place where we married and live now, in a relation.

The corner portals of the field were near to our former adresses:

Martin (HĂŒrm, Lower Austria)

Kerstin (Lusen, Bavaria – Attersee, Upper Austria)

The Links went straight through cities where we visited school

Martin (Melk, Lower Austria)

Kerstin (Steyr, Upper Austria).

Our present adress is in the same range to all the corner portals (+/- 5 km) and so in the middle of the field.

Total MU: 5,8 Mio

MU in CP: 5,1 Mio

Layers: 10

Countries involved: Austria, Czech, Germany

Many thanks to all agents involved, making this possible and helping me making my wife this late wedding present!

Hi

Hi

On Saturday I going to visit Vienna to collect some unique portals. So I want to ask you which prepaid SIM card do I have to buy. I am going to spend only one day day in Austria, so I need data only for one day.

So which operator you recommend to me

– I will need about 1GB

– with no difficult data activation

– good price is preffered 😀

And where can I buy it

Thanx in advance for you suggestions.

Niantic Labs – when will you be able to fix your server bugs?

Originally shared by Monika Pfalz

Niantic Labs – when will you be able to fix your server bugs? Here in Europe we are still under the blanket of a green field although the portals had been destroyed hours ago which makes playing at the moment impossible except for destroying and deploying portals. Within this shadow field linking of portals and creating fields is not possible, but that’s the thing why I play Ingress – linking of portals and the creation of fields, be it small or large, no matter!

We have already observed a similar phenomenon earlier this week when a 40+ multilayer field was created above Bratislava – the fields remained as shadows even after destruction of the corner points and counted for the regional cell at several checkpoints although they were non-existent anymore. By this, the whole ranking of the cell NR01-FOXTROT-06 is nonsense in the meantime. And this is not funny anymore… Considering the fact that next weekend large Interitus events will take place – how can you guarantee that the outcome of those events will not be falsified by the lapse of servers which still count non-existent fields?

Operation 12L – 50 points for Santiago de Chile

Originally shared by Peter F. Mayer

Operation 12L – 50 points for Santiago de Chile

Operation 12L was intended to test out new intelligence gathered by Austrian agents from Hulong Labs. The theory said, that 12-time layered  fields do have a mollifying influence on the minds covered, if the field spans at least 4 countries. Therefore agents from Austria, Slovakia, Hungary and Czech Republic set out to put this theory to a real life test.

Resistance scientists in Bratislava had developed a new mathematical field operator which could be used to do the planning for large fields, called H-operator. It was decided to put this new operator to practical testing. Since the field operator had still to be mathematically verified the field was planned for later this month. Once the agents learned, that cell NR01-foxtrot-06 was connected to the Interitus event in Santiago de Chile, it was decided to move the fielding foreward to Friday June 6th, with linking time 23:45 hours just 15 minutes before one of the checkpoints.

A total of about 50 agents from 4 countries were involved in planning, preparing and cleaning the linking corridors. Since the total length of the corridors exceeded 670 kilometers  three agents from Austria and Slovakia directed the cleaning activities. Despite some difficult situations in all involved countries the link corridors were free at the planned time at 23:45 CET. The linking teams in Kindberg, Styria, and Drosendorf, Lower Austria, were well prepared and secured the portals against enemy attacks with flipping and shielding. The first field was created at 23:47 CET, the last at 23:59 CET just in time for the checkpoint.

The field was so intense that visiting agents from Munich and several towns in Austria had to use other means for navigation as the 12-layer made streets in the scanner invisible. All planned fielding activities by enlightened agents intended to win the Intertitus related competition came to a sudden halt. During the preparation and cleaning activities Resistance agents in Slovakia detected attempts by Enlightened agents to create a multi-layer field over Bratislava and successfully prevented it.

At June 7th 00:17 CET hours an enlightened agent appeared at the northern corner Drosendorf and took down the innermost two fields. Obviously then the mollifying effect of the 12-layer field covering 4 cells and countries took precedence as expected by the intelligence gathered over the agents mind and he stopped firing at the other portals. The enlightened agent resumed his activity later on and at 00:52 CET he took down the last field.

The 12 layers covered 23,3 mio mind units in cells NR01-foxtrot-05, -06, -07 and -09. For the Interitus connected cell NR01-foxtrot-06 it secured a very clear victory for Resistance. At the final checkpoint on Saturday June 7 18:00 hours UTC the count was 1,1M RES and 160k ENL. For the other cells the field also yielded clear resistance leads.

Total MU: Over 220 Million

Brief

The agents from operation #spinnaker wanted a new challenge, and to go even bigger! The astounding operation #O2J identified and used hard to reach “Bad Ass Portals” to form a web of mega fields from mainland Europe and out to the Azores. The adventures that agents had getting to those portals can be found by searching with the #   #O2J . It was a landmark operation in terms of international collaboration and also in linking through cities and “impossibly dense” countries.

I interviewed the organisers of this incredible operation, *Vincent Rammelt* and *Flurin Noller*

This is the biggest fielding operation Europe has ever seen. Where did the idea for this operation come from? Who was the team that started the idea?

VR:

The challenge after Spinnaker was to make a little crazy field. We wanted to try a link through a city like Mönchengladbach. Then we had an idea to link through Hamburg. We made a completely blue city (L3+ portals). We helped on anomalies in Berlin, Amsterdam and Frankfurt. We needed a new crazy idea!

FN:

It started with an idea for a “small” field – Helgoland, Aachen, Berlin. Vincent and I were dreaming and I had some fun looking for hard to attack portals on islands.

Then it got bigger and bigger and at some point we started the hangout with the question „Are you up for something crazy?“

International collaboration is a big part of Ingress, but this operation takes it to the next level. How did you decide which countries to involve? How was the link plan devised?

FN:

I asked people I knew from Spinnaker, from the anomalies and from a weird hangout where I was invited to by accident. All of them continued to find good agents that helped planning and making #O2J a success.

VR:

As part of the mainlink headquarter on Unight8 it was my obsession to chat with Europe. I like it to talk every day with the other countries. We have become good friends, met at the anomalies in the other cities. And we like all the same game.

Why did you choose this name for the operation, and who came up with the logo?

FN:

I came up with crazy fielding theories and Vincent just had the perfect name for it.

VR:

The first idea was to make the operation on the European Day on the 9th May. But this was a friday so it would have been a hard job to find enough people. So we asked the european agents to find a better date.

The name is a reference to the European Anthem “Ode to Joy”. Ingress is a great joy. The logo is a composition of Europe, the song and the resistance. It was design by https://plus.google.com/+LarsT%C3%B6gemann/posts

Have there been any interesting challenges liaising with other countries, with different languages and local situations?

FN:

Not to raise political issues I’ll stay silent on that question (but yes). It was amazing though that so much cooperation and friendship occured between different countries with different cultures and languages. Astonishingly all the “problematic” links were established.

VR:

Every operation is a new challenge. I see no borders between other countries and people.

What was the toughest portal in the operation?

FN:

Since all of them were Bad Ass Portals (meaning hard to access at a certain time of the day) we had a lot of struggle to find people willing to be at that position and make the necessary links. The toughest Portal might be the swiss Portal, the “Sphinx”. It was not only the only Portal that had no crew at the site but also the one portal that went through the most struggle. The link to austria was almost impossible to create, the link to france was also quite challenging. And everything was only possible because one agent went up there on Saturday with the last train to Ada the portal. Every incoming link to Switzerland was established. These agents did a great job!

VR:

Every portal was very tough. I’m a little bit sad about the portal in Hamburg. It was an act of nature, because it was only reachable by boat, but there was no chance to get in the port through the faulty watergate. Berlin was also tough. The agent had to buy a rubber boat with paddles and now he is a happy owner of this and have strong arms.

We understand some agents had to climb a mountain to get to a portal, tell us about that!

FN:

As I just mentioned, the link from Austria to switzerland was almost not possible to establish. We had blockers that were really Bad Ass. Two agents made a tour to one mountaintop but they had to climb down again due to bad weather conditions.

So we decided to take the other sides of the links down. 10 days prior to the Op an Italian team tore down one of the links and a few days later the two agents took down the portal on Titschal. They covered it as a simple LTP-kill. And it worked.

VR:

The climb on top of the mountain was very crazy and dangerous. But the first peak had bad weather conditions and the agents canceled the climb at the last few metres. This was one of the craziest stories for me.

Some of the fields were blocked by the enlightened, and we’ve heard epic stories of their adventures in doing so. But of the ones that went up, is it true that some were removed by spoofers? Any other stories about how the fields were removed?

FN:

Yes. One Portal on a mountain was suddenly flipped, the agents on the summit were searching the area, they saw no one. And in Berlin a newly created blue L1 Account managed to create some blockers on the Island where you are not allowed to be at that time. One other Portal got attacked by a newly created green Account, but we could recharge that.

The take down of the Portal in Cologne however was at least partly legitimate. Two local frogs talked their way into the restricted area, where our agent was baffled to see them. Faro cies was also attacked by a spoofer.

VR:

The plan was to use only badass portals. #Spinnaker remained for 36 hours but #O2J should be online for a longer time. So it was no surprise of taken down by spoofers. I hope Niantic react. France reported “This morning at 11am 3 crazy ENL drove from Paris to break our anchor 2h before you could safely walk across (the tide was still up), one of them went swimming!”

Now it’s all over, how are you feeling?

FN:

Whisky
And now after the Whisky, I enjoyed it so much working with these great agents. Due to bad luck some of the fields were not established but a pretty good part of it was and so I’m happy!

I love being a Resistance agent.

VR:

I’m very proud of the European Resistance. You rock the game! You made a fantastic show.

And now: Turn off my Ingress and Hangouts and sleep for some day. Oh wait

Originally shared by Luka Puntar

This is a field report for operation »50 Shades Of Green«

A mega-multi layer field over Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, was planned for some time; a few small scale tests were made as proof of concept before. It was only after an invite from Austrian agents to participate in operation Light Up! to make as much green fields and/or portals as possible for Save The Frogs Day ( http://www.savethefrogs.com/day/ ) – April 26, 2014 (that conceited with the Interitus anomaly in Frankfurt) the decision was made to make “fifty shades of green” a reality.

The mastermind behind the operation was @zl68 who prepared the link plan and cleared many links the night before and in the last hours before the linking.

Other agents involved are:

@TomLooway– Key farming in Idrija, clearing blue links on hill Ơmarna Gora and linking in Kamnik,

@AvroZinkelwisel– Key farming and linking in Idrija,

@MrBeez– Key farming in Idrija,

@SilentException key farming in Idrija,

@AndyRak– Key farming and clearing blue links in primary south anchor Videm,

@Retsym– Clearing blue links and initial linking,

@djoli- Key farming and linking in Semič (southernmost anchors),

@Myrules– clearing links in Ơkofja Loka (very blue city),

@molotovswd– link clearing in south Slovenia,

@shinzon24– Field and Mind Unit counter.

The plan was made so that not only two anchors are used as that makes the fields vulnerable. Instead after some fields the anchors were shifted, this was done a couple of times. This way a single agent can’t destroy all fields by destroying a single portal.

Major obstacles with this operation were link-happy friendly agents that cost us a few ADA and unavailability of local agents to clear links which meant @zl68 had to drive to several hundred locations to clear blue and green links before operation start.

Final numbers for the operation:

Number of fields: 140

Number of layers: 50

Time of execution: ~4h (from start of final block link clearing to last field created)

Sum of MU captured: 9 645 514 MU (9,6 Million MU)

Thank you fellow agents for a beautiful day full of green-win!

A few weeks ago a idea grew inside me.

Originally shared by Andreas Koitz (Dachef0815)

A few weeks ago a idea grew inside me.

I wanted to try a bigger size of field than normal. I wanted to see million of MU.

So i searched for anchors and with help of cheef aka reinhard trojer i found some anchors in east and south tyrol.

The northern corner i found in lower austria, a town called Lunz am See and the east corner was in Nagybajom – Hungary

Now, where the corners were found, i needed some guys for cleaning the corridors.

And THAT was the real problem. We needed a 5km corridor through Maribor and a 8km corridor through Klagenfurt.

The third hotspot was between Villach and Spittal a.d. Drau.

All those spots were in the south corridor and a knew, the field needs the best guys in this area.

So i tried to motivate them for my field.

In Maribor i found Miha Kukovec with help from Graz from simon schrottner and Matthias Riedl .

In Klagenfurt i found Wolfgang Grillitsch aka Ghaader and his team.

The problem there was, that there are a lot of very motivated young players which were very hard to controll.

So we decided to make a save field the week before over Klagenfurt.

For the rest of the south corridor i found Filip Bipe and his team from Zagreb – Croatia and Michael Habernig aka fightmashine for Villach and Spittal.

For the west corridor i found sven Frauendorff, Willibald Feldner-Oberzaucher, Harald Schubert,  reinhard trojer, Ramona Hofmann  and their teams.

At the western corridor there were Christian Schiller and Harald Wegscheider.

Linkteams were:

In the east – Hans-Peter Woger, Eisi Meister

in the north – Christian Unzog, Nicole Kalser

in the west – Andreas Koitz

So, the teams are found, the corridors are named, but theres still a lot of work to do.

A dammed lot of links and fields to clean.

So we did it.

But the signs showed us that the enlightened planed a field on the same day.

But we were determined to make this.

Planned linktime was at 8 pm.

So we cleaned the corridor and tried to link but there were crosslinks. more and more of them.

So we had houndreds of km to drive to clean them.

A short time we thought that it’s impossible to make it, but then we got them and made the first links from north to west and east. but it was extremly hard to clean the south.

But half past 10pm we closed the first fields.

Then i finished the other fields from west to north and east.

In the end we had 14 of our planned 17 layers.

In summary we had more than 15 million MU.

At quarter to one am. on friday GreenBassMonkey and FlatL1ner destroyed the northern corner.

A small summary:

-More than 3500 droven km

-about 600 lvl8 xmp

-12 jarvis

-2 ADA

Special thanks to the operators Daniel BĂŒrger and Tobias Kellner.

I also want to thank all the one man teams and teammates like:

Alexander Homa mego drom Matthias Lackner Christian Ritzinger Christian Pibal Fabian Homa Diana D Bernhard Stocker Daniel Pichler.
